Kenneth "Ziggy" Maurice Zeigler , 88, of Harleysville, PA; formerly of Lansdale, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at his residence.
He was the loving husband of Faye (Homme) Zeigler for 64 years. Ken was born in Lansdale, PA to the late Maurice Henry and Kathryn Elizabeth (Howe) Zeigler.
He attended Lansdale High School, class of 1951. Ken was drafted into the US Army in 1953 serving as a CPL in the Korean Conflict until 1955. He spent his life time in the family businesses, making cider and farming the peach orchard. Ken was the driving force, laying the groundwork to make Zeigler's Apple cider a nationally known product and became the largest fresh squeezed apple cider producer in the country. He retired in 1992 as CEO of M. H. Zeigler & Sons.
Ken was a former member of the Lansdale Nazarene Church. He is a current member of Souderton Mennonite Church, where he was part of the Visitation Team. Ken was a Board Member of Peaceful Living, member of the Kiwanis Club, Telford, PA, served on the International Friendship Committee, housed many international students, and was a board member for Mama Project in the 90's.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, socializing, playing cards with friends, helping people, and watching baseball & football. Ken enjoyed meeting once a month with his high school classmates for lunch for several years. He was a jovial person. No one was a stranger to Ken and he saw the beauty in all people.
In addition to his wife, Faye, he is survived by his two daughters, Debra Faye Horan and husband, Robert of Mechanicsville, VA and Kimberly Elaine Sell and husband, Thomas of Temple, NH; his two sons, Daniel Kenneth Zeigler and wife, Lucinda of Telford, PA and Bradley Keith Zeigler and wife, Camilla of Schwenksville, PA; his six grandchildren - Neal, Kyle, Brittany, Luke, Danielle & Karlee, his three great-grandchildren – Ellie, Elijah & Ethan; and his two sisters, Lorraine Gery of Costa Mesa, CA, Betty Elizabeth Hespell of Telford, PA.
Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Branson Roberts, of Jenison, MI and a sister-in-law, Gloria Zeigler of Lansdale, PA. His extended families, Hung (Lee) Nguyen, Steven (Phuong) Nguyen and Tri (Loan) Nguyen; and their children, Carolyn/Luke Dietterich, Devin, Kimannie, Andrew, Vivian, Jonathan, and Benjamin. Also, the families of Anita & Junior Cunningham, Chi Achi, and Dinora Fonseca.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Clayton Zeigler, his two sisters Grace Arlene Freed and Joan Marlene Roberts, his three brothers-in-law, Elmer "Pete" Hespell, Ray Gery, and Harvey Freed.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Finland Mennonite Church, 1750 Ziegler Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Saturday, July 3rd from 9:30 am - 11:00 am.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at Finland Mennonite Church, 1750 Ziegler Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073.
A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family
