Leidy H. Lewis, Jr., 95, of Souderton, Pennsylvania, formerly of Hilltown, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

He was the loving husband of Doris K. (Eckhart) Lewis, with whom he shared 73 years of marriage. Leidy was born in Hilltown Township, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Leidy H. Lewis, Sr. and the late Mary (Detweiler) Lewis.

Leidy attended Hilltown High School. In 1955, he was drafted into the United States Army and served as a mechanic. Upon his discharge, he earned his GED. He spent his working years building a career in the heating, oil, and HVAC industries. During the 1950s, he began his career as a commission merchant, traveling to Philadelphia. In the 1960s, he worked as a service technician for the former Farm & Home Oil Company in Souderton and later for the former Hendricks Fuel and Coal in Hilltown. In 1986, Leidy and his son, David, founded L. H. Lewis & Son HVAC in Hilltown, until he retired in 2011.

He was a faithful, lifelong member of Hilltown Baptist Church in Chalfont, Pennsylvania.

Leidy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He treasured time spent with his family and enjoyed the outdoors. An avid fisherman, he especially enjoyed fishing on his boat the “Doris K” in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, and spending time outdoors.

In addition to his wife, Doris, Leidy is survived by his son, David Lewis and his wife, Theresa, of Perkasie, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Susan Shelly and her husband, Troy, of Quakertown, Pennsylvania; his six grandchildren, Nate, Lee, and Stephen Shelly, Dylan Lewis, and Kelsey Lewis-Gates, and Hali Reddick; his two great-grandchildren, Rhett and Luca Shelly; his brother, David Lewis, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; and his sister, Lois Shea, of Zellwood, Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Lewis, and his sister, Doris Crook.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m.

A private inurnment will take place at Lower Hilltown Baptist Church Cemetery.
