LeiLani "Lani" Marie (Steele) Schlegel, 58, of Sumneytown, PA; formerly of Harleysville, PA went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.

She was the loving wife of Douglas James Schlegel for 18 years. Lani was born in Doylestown, PA to Ronald Steele of Macungie, PA and Blanche Lewis Steele of Upper Black Eddy, PA.

She graduated from Palisades High School, class of 1984. Lani worked as a self-employed hairdresser in Levittown, PA. She then worked as a nurse's aide for a local nursing home in NJ. Lani was employed as a receptionist for Nyce, Tolley & Lorenzo in Lansdale, PA.

She attended Immanuel Leidy's Church in Souderton, PA.

Lani enjoyed fishing and flower gardening. She loved animals, especially her cats and dogs.

Lani was a very caring and compassionate woman who was a beam of light in a dark place.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her son, Dustin Frye of Throndale, PA; her step-son, Kyle Douglas Schlegel of Gilbertsville, PA; her father-in-law, Frank S. Allebach & wife, Phyllis of Telford, PA; her sister, Kelly Marks of Upper Black Eddy, PA; her sister-in-law, Tracy J. Dugan & husband, Harry of Wayne, PA.

Lani was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Steele, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and time. Please check back in September or October of 2023.
