Obituary

Lorene M. (Detweiler) Derstine , 98, of Deland, Florida; formerly of Harleysville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2024 at Hailfax Hospice Care of Ormond Beach Fl.

She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Derstine for 61 years. Lorene was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania to the late Norman Detweiler and the late Sallie (Moyer) Detweiler.

Lorene went to Rockhill Elementary School through the eighth grade. From the early 1960's until the 1980's Lorene was not only a homemaker, but she also worked at various school cafeterias. Later she was employed as a Baker for Franconia Heritage Restaurant, formerly known as The Family Heritage Restaurant for many years.

Lorene was a former member of the Rockhill Mennonite Church in Telford Pa and was a current member of First Baptist Church of Deland Fl. During her time at Rockhill she taught children during summer Bible school, and was active in the lady's Sewing Circle.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother. Lorene enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting. She and her late husband, Joseph, enjoyed visiting children in various states. The family will always remember the many vacation trips to see family and friends. Lorene was as a caring, kind-hearted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Derstine of Broomfield, CO; her two sons, Cleon R. (Randy) Derstine of Deland, FL, Brian L. (Carly ) Derstine of San Antonio, TX; six Grandchildren; Evan, Michelle, Erik, Kristina, Austin, & Jordan; her seven great grandchildren Kensey, Riley, Luke, Tyler, Adam, Addie, & Memphis; her two sister-in-law's, Sue Detweiler of Telford, PA, Cora Detweiler of Telford, PA; her brother-in-law, Curt Nice of Souderton, PA.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Russell, Merrill, and Donald Detweiler, her sister, Gladys Nice, and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Detweiler.

A Graveside Service will be held on, Saturday, December 7, 2024 10:30AM at Rockhill Mennonite Cemetery 3100 Meetinghouse Road, Telford, Pennsylvania 18969.
