Mae L. (Kerr) Alderfer , 86, of Sellersville, PA; formerly of Telford, PA entered into rest on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Grand View Hospital.
She was the loving wife of the late Stanley D. Alderfer for 62 years. Mae was born in Upper Salford Twp., PA to the late Eugene K. Kerr and the late Martha (Landes) Kerr.
She attended Lancaster Mennonite High School and then served 2 years with Stan in I-W Service in Rhode Island before returning to raise her family. Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Mae was a member of Perkiomenville Mennonite Church.
She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading Amish novels, shopping excursions to Lancaster and family time spent in Susquehanna County at the family mountain home.
Mae was a compassionate, loving woman who had a good sense of humor and enjoyed hearing a good story.
She is survived by her four children, Sandra Moyer & husband, Harley of Athol, ID, Cheryl Overholt & husband, Dale of Souderton, PA, Glenn Alderfer & wife, Wendy of Telford, PA Karen Arcaro & husband, Armand of Harleysville,; her seven grandchildren – Ryan, Jamie, Nathan & wife, Stephanie, Justin, Evan & wife, Amanda, Tyler, Whitney & husband, Ben; her seven great-grandchildren; her four sisters-in-law, Blanche Kerr of Hatfield, PA, Esther Kerr of Pennsburg, PA, Kay Kerr of Duncannon, PA, Arlene Alderfer of Souderton, PA; and her brother-in-law, Richard Alderfer & wife, Louise of Harrisonburg, VA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mae was preceded in death by her three brothers, Lloyd, Wilmer, & James Kerr and her sister, Grace Sauder-Hall.
A funeral service at the graveside will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 10:00 am at Perkiomenville Mennonite Cemetery, 1836 Gravel Pike (Rt. 29), Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania 18074, followed by a committal service at 10:30 am.
Burial will take place at Perkiomenville Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
