Manuel V.
Nuñez
Jan 22, 1934 — Sep 2, 2025
Manuel V. Nuñez , 91, of Lansdale, PA, and formerly of Havana, Cuba; Venezuela; and Souderton, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Dock Woods Community, Lansdale, PA.
He was the beloved husband of the late Clara (Blanco) Nuñez, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Havana, Cuba, Manuel was the son of the late Manuel Eugenio Nuñez and the late Lucrecia (Ponzoa) Nuñez.
Manuel graduated from Vedado Institute High School in Havana, class of 1952, and went on to earn a degree from the University of Havana in 1960. He began his career working in his family's sugar mill business in Cuba, later joining La Corporación de Fomento de Venezuela. After immigrating to the United States, he served as a chemist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Chestnut Hill, PA, before spending 36 years as a chemist with Rohm & Haas Co. (now Dow Chemical) in Spring House, PA.
A devoted member of Souderton Mennonite Church, Manuel faithfully served in many roles, including Sunday school teacher, church elder, pastoral search committee member, delegate to the Franconia Mennonite Conference, and church council member. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club of Souderton-Telford.
With a professional background in agricultural engineering and a specialization in sugar cane chemistry, Manuel brought passion and dedication to his work. Outside of his career, he enjoyed coaching youth soccer, playing golf, tennis and chess, listening to music, watching sports, and traveling. He especially treasured summers spent vacationing with family in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Manuel will be remembered as a hardworking, generous, and sociable man with a warm sense of humor and deep compassion—especially in the care he lovingly gave his wife during her final years.
He is survived by his daughter, Clara Vivian (Nuñez) Benner & husband Kendall of Souderton, PA; his son, Manuel Augusto Nuñez & wife Kristie (Moser) Nuñez of Collegeville, PA; four grandchildren: Kayla Erin Clark of York, PA; Erika Nicole Benner of Phoenixville, PA; Estella Quinn Nuñez and Samuel Laureano Nuñez, both of Collegeville, PA; and one great-grandson, James Patrick Clark of York, PA.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Souderton Mennonite Church, 105 W. Chestnut Street, Souderton, PA 18964. An informal visitation will follow. A private burial will be held at Souderton Mennonite Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Living Branches Benevolent Care Fund, 273 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
