Obituary

Margaret "Peg" (Anders) Freed , 98, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Sellersville, Bedminster Twp., Doylestown, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

She was the loving wife of the late Jacob B. Freed for 72 years. Peg was born in Franconia Twp., PA to the late Alvin F. Anders and the late Lydia (Diller) Anders.

She attended the Souderton Area School. Peg worked as a seamstress at the former Sunlite Shop in Souderton. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peg worked as laborer for the former Myers Foods in Plumsteadville, PA. During the mid 1970's, she cleaned private residences in the Bucks County areas.

Peg was a loyal member of Doylestown Mennonite Church. Throughout her time there, she served as a VBS & Sunday School Superintendent and Secretary. In addition, Peg also volunteered as a MYF leader and sang in the church choir, women's ensembles, and with 'Life with God' broadcast. She frequently helped in the kitchen and was part of the visitation ministry. Peg was a past president, secretary and volunteered with Woman's Missionary Service Commission for the church.

From 1951-1980, she was a former leader and teacher for 4-H Club in Danboro, PA. Peg served on the Quilt Committee at Dock Community in Lansdale. She was a faithful volunteer for the MCC Material Resource Center and the Care & Share Thrift Shoppes in Souderton.

She offered generous hospitality to everyone including hosting family meals, taking in fresh air children, and entertaining guests in her home. Peg loved baking, cooking, and playing table games. A favorite pastime of Peg's was quilting which she enjoyed doing at Doylestown Mennonite Church, Souderton Mennonite Homes, MCC Material Resources Center, Dock Woods and in her own home. She was proficient and creative in crafts, making quilts, crocheting scrubbies and name doilies, sewing clothing, etc. Peg was a cheerful homemaker and skilled gardener; she enjoyed new experiences and was adventuresome. She also enjoyed taking her family swimming and loved wintering in Florida with her late husband.

Peg is survived by her five children, Janet F. Landes & husband, Paul of Chalfont, PA, Anita J. Beidler & husband, Donald of Lititz, PA, Rodney L. Freed & wife, Jane of Mertztown, PA, Leona J. Landis & husband, Kenneth of Perkasie, PA, Carla J. Ferrier & husband, David of Sellersville, PA; her 14 grandchildren – Eric, Craig, Lorin, Leanne, Lyle, Gina, Jenae, Delise, Brian, Chad, Jacqueline, Stephanie, Jillian, & Samantha; her 30 great-grandchildren – Jessica, Julia, Jacob, Jackson, Elena, Corina, Berkely, Willa, Kyra, Declan, Miranda, Melina, Mae, Dane, Quillan, Henry, Dylan, Micah, Elijah, Ezra, Josiah, Jedidiah, Judah, Jacob, Anika, Aaron, Caden, Micah, Caleb, & Asher; her sister, Fran Delp & husband, Joseph of St. Augustine, FL; her brother, Dale Anders of Joliet, IL; and her sister-in-law, Flo Anders of Sarasota, FL.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Levi Anders and her brother, Reuben Anders.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Doylestown Mennonite Church, 590 N. Broad St., Doylestown, Pennsylvania 18901 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm.

MASKS ARE REQUIRED TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES AND PLEASE FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS.

Burial will take place at Doylestown Mennonite Cemetery.
