Marie E.
Heitz
Jul 12, 1936 — Oct 15, 2026
Marie E. (Hooban) Heitz, 90, of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, formerly of Spring Hill, Florida, and Lansdale, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Marie was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” P. Heitz, with whom she shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Staten Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Hooban and Minnie H. (Henne) Hooban.
Marie was employed as a PBX operator for the former Bell Telephone in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. She was a faithful member of Calvary Church in Souderton, Pennsylvania, where her faith remained an important part of her life.
Marie found joy in life’s simple pleasures and, above all, in the time she spent with those she loved. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and her homemade chocolate cake was a family favorite. An avid reader, she also loved traveling with her beloved husband, Bob, and had a special fondness for dogs.
Marie leaves behind her two sons, Robert C. Heitz and his wife, Mimi, of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and Douglas P. Heitz of Perkasie, Pennsylvania; her daughter, Cheryl Kuhns and her husband, Rod, of Harleysville, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Marie was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Joy Denise Heitz; her three brothers, Tom Hooban, Teddy Hooban, and Albert Hooban; and her three sisters, Debbie Avayou, Betty Lambrinos, and Alice Hooban.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Marie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House, 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015, or online at https://www.slhn.org/development/ways-to-give.
Arrangements are entrusted to Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 East Broad Street, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.andersfh.com.
