Obituary

Martha Elizabeth (Bierbower) DeFrancesco , 98, of East Stroudsburg, formerly of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Pleasant Valley Manor, Stroudsburg, PA.

Martha was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles T. Bierbower and the late Margaret E. (Greaf) Bierbower. She graduated from high school in Baltimore City County.

During her marriage, Martha raised her daughters and managed the household as her profession. Afterwards, she worked as an Office Manager for Altec, Colmar, PA for 10 years, retiring in 1991. She went on to work in Paradise Manor, a personal care home in Hatfield for several years, and then provided private home health care.

Martha was an active member of Immanuel Leidy's Church for over 35 years. She was involved in many ministries, including assisting with Summer Bible School and Sunday School, helping in the Nursery, working to set up the annual Rummage Sale, and running the church Library. She was an avid reader of biographies, a talented seamstress, and enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge. She delighted in watching all major team sports. Martha was active in the early Pro-Life movement and donated to numerous charitable organizations throughout her life.

She is survived by her three daughters, Joanne DeFrancesco of East Stroudsburg, PA, Dianne DeFrancesco and husband Steve Martin of Marietta, GA, Renee Reichley and husband Scott of Green Lane, PA, her granddaughter, Carey Lear and husband Craig of Perkasie, PA and her grandson, Sam Reichley, and her two great-grandsons, Austin Lear of Perkasie, PA and Logan Lear of Perkasie, PA.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, John Donald DeFrancesco.

Inurnment and a private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at 11:00 am at Immanuel Leidy's Church, 276 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Immanuel Leidy's Church 273 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964.
