Mary Ellen "Shorty" (Heilman) Gruver , 84, of Souderton, PA passed away peacefully at her home after an extended illness on Monday, October 24th, 2022.

She was the loving wife of Denny Gruver for 65 years. Mary Ellen was born in Lehighton, PA to the late Harry Leroy Heilman and the late Mary (Motola) Heilman.

She graduated from Pennridge High School, class of 1956. After graduation, Mary Ellen pursued    employment at BuxMont Orthopedics, Sellersville, PA. Later, for many years, she became the bookkeeper for Bearings and Drives Unlimited, Souderton, PA. Mary Ellen also owned and operated American Beauty Shop in Harleysville during the late 80's and 90's.

She was a long-time member of Immanuel Leidy's Church in Souderton.

Mary Ellen and her husband Denny enjoyed supporting many charities. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family. She enjoyed cross stitching and vacationing at her homes in Delray Beach, FL and Ocean City, NJ.

In addition to her husband, Denny she is survived by her daughter, Debra Ann Schatz & husband Jeffery of Sellersville, PA; her two sons, Barry Lee Gruver & wife Kristi of Doylestown, PA and  Brent Alan Gruver & wife Tracy of Souderton, PA; and her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Donahue, her brother-in-law Walter "Snuffy" Donahue and her nephew, Terry Donahue.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
