Mary  (Derewiany) Shelby , 92, of Telford, PA; formerly of Millville, NJ,  passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Lutheran Community at Telford.

For a number of years she was the wife of the late Lewis Shelby, also of Millville NJ. Mary was born May 25, 1930 in Millville, New Jersey to the late John Derewiany and Katherine (Kuper) Derewiany.

She was a graduate of Millville HS class of 1948.

Upon graduation, Mary was employed as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone. During her years in Catasauqua PA she was a homemaker and volunteer for the PTA while her son Gary was in school.  In her later years she was a home health aide in the Millville area.

Mary was a wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a very avid reader who enjoyed gardening, sewing, and painting.  Mary truly had a "green thumb"; she could make any plant happy and healthy! Mary loved ice cream and peanut butter M&M's and never missed a chance to have either.  Her dog Rags was a beloved companion in her life and brought her much joy.  In her later years, her great-granddaughter Clare was a focus of love and pride to her.

She is survived by her sister, Ann Whilden of Millville NJ; her son, Gary Shelby and daughter in law Amy of Harleysville, PA; her grandson, Colin  Shelby, his wife Meredith and great-granddaughter Clare of Malvern, PA; and her granddaughter, Nicole Shelby and partner Christian Mueller of Burlington, VT.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Barr Funeral Home; 2104 East Main Street, Millville NJ 08332 on Monday, July 25.  Visitation begins at 10:30AM, Service at 11:00AM.

Inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, East Broad Street at Tenth, Millville, NJ immediately after the Service.

The family invites all to a luncheon at the Green Olive; 3513 South Delsea Drive, Vineland, NJ 08360 following internment.
