Mary I. (Pfeiffer) Walter , 87, of Souderton, Pennsylvania, formerly of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at her residence.
She was the beloved wife of Leroy R. Walter, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Mary was the daughter of the late Arthur Pfeiffer and the late Catherine (Wick) Pfeiffer.
Mary graduated from Shawnee High School in Louisville, Kentucky, with the Class of 1956. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to both her family and her work. She was employed as a secretary for a local law firm in Louisville, Kentucky, and later served as a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband's business, Walter Garage, in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. She also worked as a cafeteria cashier at North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, where she was employed for 18 years until retirement.
Mary was a faithful member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Hatfield, where she formerly served as an offering counter. She enjoyed many activities, including playing bingo, bowling at Earl Bowl and participating in a bowling league, reading, completing crossword puzzles, and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies. She especially enjoyed traveling annually with her brothers and sisters and took great pleasure in sending cards to family and friends for every occasion.
Mary will be remembered as a hardworking, caring, compassionate, and loving woman. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose family was the center of her life.
In addition to her husband, Leroy, she is survived by her two sons, Michael L. Walter of Souderton, Pennsylvania, and David K. Walter and his wife, Kelley, of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania; her daughter, Susan M. Wisler of Souderton, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Valerie Walter of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Jamie Wisler and his wife, Heather, of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Andrew Wisler of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, David K. Walter Jr. and his wife, Kristen, of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, Anthony Walter and his wife, Nichole, of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, and Marissa Calhoun and her husband, Andrew, of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania; ten great-grandchildren – Jace Wisler, Kamryn Walter, Colton Walter, Lukas Walter, Maria Eller, Alex Walter, Lily Walter, Liam Calhoun, Declan Calhoun, Teagan Calhoun; two sisters, Sharon Jewell of Queen Creek, Arizona , and Peggy Pfeiffer of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and one brother, Budd Pfeiffer of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene Pfeiffer and Richard Pfeiffer, and her sister, Wanda Beatty.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 East Broad Street, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
