Obituary

Miriam K. (Alderfer) Benner , 94, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Telford, PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

She was the loving wife of the late Linford C. Benner for 60 years. Miriam was born in Harleysville, PA to the late Horace A. Alderfer and the late Bertha M. (Keller) Alderfer.

Prior to marriage, she worked as a sewing machine operator for the former Sackman Brothers Clothing in Telford. Miriam was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was a member of Salem Mennonite Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and she assisted in the kitchen.

Miriam loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed bird watching, singing gospel music, playing the organ and accordion, canning and freezing, baking, reading, and traveling to visit family and across seas.

Miriam was a loving and compassionate woman who was a dedicated prayer warrior and had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her five children, Larry A. Benner & wife, Joan of Colorado Springs, CO, Joanne A. Benner of Telford, PA, Dennis A. Benner & wife, Joan of Telford, PA, Glenda A. Garman & husband, Steve of Eureka, IL, Ronald A. Benner & wife, Deborah of Telford, PA; her 10 grandchildren – Jason, Melinda, Jennifer, Trenna, Kevin, Christopher, Curtis, Brittany, Joshua, & Olesya; and her 10 great-grandchildren – Megan, Matthew, Makenna, Jonathan, Alexis, Noah, Natalie, Mason, Marley, & Jaxson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Miriam was preceded in death by her son, Linford Ray Benner; her daughter-in-law, Stephanie Benner; her granddaughter, Kristie Garman; her four sisters, Eva Metz, Pearl Leatherman, Bertha Burbank, & Frances Alderfer; and her five brothers, Paul, Zephaniah, Linford, Wellington, & Horace Alderfer.

A viewing will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.

Burial will take place at Souderton Mennonite Church Cemetery.
