Miriam (Godshall) Derstine 88, of Sellersville, formerly a long time resident of Hatfield township, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Lovingly known as Mim, she spent her last 11 days at Grand View Hospital after having a stroke. She was surrounded by family and loved ones when she entered into eternal peace.

She was the loving wife of the late Vernon L. Derstine for 70 years. Mim was born in Telford to the late Marvin K. Godshall and the late Hannah (Moyer) Godshall.

At age 14, Mim was already slicing lunch meat for her parent's family business, Godshall's Quality Meats. Mim had sewing skills, so still in her teens, Mim took a job at Shoeneman's as a Seamstress. After marriage and becoming a mother of three, she took great interest in decorating and became an Interior Designer. In addition, for 35 years, Mim and her husband Vern owned and managed apartments in Quakertown. She faithfully mowed the lawn with a push mower until age 83.

Mim was very devoted to God, her husband, family, friends. She also enjoyed entertaining, cooking and baking. In her younger years, she learned about reflexology and shared her gift with children and grandchildren. Her other hobbies included reading, gardening, riding horses with family, antiquing, card and board games, golfing, skiing, music and singing.

She enjoyed many outdoor activities. Mim especially enjoyed their yearly ski trip, usually to various areas in Colorado, and often with a grandchild along for the adventure. Mim was very blessed to enjoy skiing with her husband, extended family and friends for 30 years. Another favorite for Mim was taking long walks in the afternoon or evening with Vern. These walks also took place at their vacation home at Lake Wallenpaupack where they did most of their entertaining. They enjoyed taking many friends and family for boat rides, water skiing and tubing.

Prior to moving to the Community of Rockhill, Mim was an active member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. Throughout various seasons of her life, she enjoyed volunteering for her community through prison ministries during the holidays, the Penn Foundation Ladies Auxiliary and Liberty Thrift Store.

Mim cherished spending time with her loved ones and being active. She was a very special lady that we all loved so much. She was our families' positive force and a great blessing to many. Her presence and contagious laughter will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her two sons, Lamar Derstine of Hatfield and Neil Derstine and his wife Linda of TN; her daughter, Yvonne D. Brouse & husband Frank of Hatfield. Her ten grandchildren are Sherry Derstine and husband Jason Paonessa, Steven Derstine, Sandy Martin and husband Stephen, Natalie Oskowitz, Kristin Ridgway and husband David, Matthew Derstine and fiancé Marie Marc, Joshua Derstine and wife Erica, Shannon Brouse, Nicole Brouse and Jeriah Brouse.

Also Mim's great-grandchildren, Jessica, Nikolas, Jake, Lilly, Kayli, David, Maddie, Nevaeh: She is survived by her brother, Walter M. Godshall & wife Helen of Telford, her three sisters, Grace M. Moyer of Hatfield, Thelma M. Bergey and husband Willard of Morris, PA, and Alda G. Kratz & husband Arlan of Souderton, and her sister-in-law, Carol Godshall of Telford. In addition to her late husband, Vernon, she was preceded in death by her brother, Arvin Godshall, Clyde Godshall (Eileen), and her sister, Betty G. Landis (Merrill).

A Celebration of Life for Mim will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 4:00 pm at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, PA 18911. An informal gathering, where friends can fellowship with the family, will be held in the Welcoming Center from 3:00 pm until time of service. There will be no receiving line.

We encourage all to please join us for a light dinner in the fellowship hall. We will have plenty of food for everyone as we are looking forward to this time of catching up and mingling.

Inurnment will take place at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
