Monroe "Sonny" Knappenberger, 79, of Souderton, Pennsylvania, entered into rest on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Grand View Hospital.

Sonny was the loving husband of Martha Pecharo, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. He was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, to the late Monroe J. Knappenberger, Sr. and Esther (Kraemer) Knappenberger.

He was a graduate of Souderton Area High School, Class of 1964. Following high school, Sonny served with I-W Service at a hospital in Lancaster. He later worked as a meat processor for Moyer Packing Company (formerly MOPAC) in Souderton. For more than 25 years, he was employed as a mechanic at Accupac in Mainland, Pennsylvania.

Sonny enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially treasured annual family vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey. He also enjoyed trips to the Atlantic City casinos and spending time playing card and board games with family and friends. He was known as a hardworking, strong-willed, and compassionate man with a dry sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children: Sandra V. Bernard of Quakertown, PA; Monroe "John" Knappenberger, Jr. of Collegeville, PA; and Donna Narvaez of Telford, PA; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Rebecca "Becky" Landis of Green Lane, PA; Ruth "Ruthie" E. Knappenberger of Souderton, PA; and Florence "Sugar" Schmitt and her husband, Joseph, of San Diego, CA.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Knappenberger; his sister, Esther "Sissy" Leister; and his infant brother, Forrest Knappenberger.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Finland Mennonite Cemetery, 1685 Upper Ridge Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073. Inurnment will take place at Finland Mennonite Cemetery.
