Nancy Carlene (Ulner) Land , 81, of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, formerly of Bradenton, Florida and Desert Hot Springs, California, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Dwight Melvin Land, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. She was born in Paxton, Illinois, to the late Alfred J. Ulner and the late Alice (Carlson) Ulner.

She graduated from Berkeley High School, class of 1963, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in French from North Park College in Chicago, IL, and her master's degree in teaching from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Nancy grew up in the Midwest and on the West Coast, where her father pastored Evangelical Covenant churches. In 1966, she followed God's call into missionary service, spending a year in Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo). After marrying Dwight, the two were commissioned as missionaries to Rwanda in 1972, serving with the Free Methodist Church for three years.

In 1976, Nancy and Dwight joined WEC International, beginning 46 years of faithful service. Their early years with WEC took them to Liberia, West Africa, where they ministered for three years before returning to the WEC USA Headquarters. There they served 18 years, helping recruit, prepare, and send missionaries around the world.

Nancy and Dwight then represented WEC for 14 years on college campuses and in churches along the West Coast, later continuing that work in Bradenton, Florida. In 2018, they returned to Fort Washington to be near family.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She was a gifted pianist, Sunday School teacher, passionate prayer warrior, and a missionary sender and mobilizer whose faith and service touched many lives.

She is survived by her loving children: Martha R. Franchois and her husband, Keith, and Stephen P. Land and his wife, Andrea, all of Fort Washington, PA. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Hannah Franchois and her fiancé, Joshua Adler; Jeremy Franchois; Kirsten Land; and Jordan Land. In addition, she is survived by her three sisters: Marlys Manthei and her husband, Jim, of Petoskey, MI; Karen Merritt and her husband, Dale, of Phoenix, AZ; and Nirvair Khalsa and her husband, Guru Meet, of Tucson, AZ.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Cassidy.

A memorial service will be held this summer at Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1119 Church Road, Oreland, Pennsylvania.

A private inurnment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her late husband.
