Raymond F. Johnson , 86, of Hatfield, PA passed away on Wednesday evening, May 13, 2020 at Grand View Hospital.

He was the loving husband to the late Jane (Moyer) Johnson for 60 years. Ray was born in Hilltown, PA to the late Max Johnson and the late Ella (Fonda) Zeigler.

He was a graduate of Hilltown High School, class of 1951. Ray was employed for the former Met-Pro in Franconia for many years, retiring in 1999. He was a machinist which included tool & die making. From 2004 to 2014, Ray was the caretaker for Hilltown Union Cemetery.

He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hilltown where he maintained the grounds at the church for years. Ray worked on the lawns in the summer, and plowed snow in the winter. He took pride in keeping the property very nicely manicured for a long period of time.

Ray enjoyed being in the outdoors, gardening in which he was known for growing the best tomatoes, and cutting trees 'the bigger, the better'. He was a true handyman and he could fix anything. Many people called on Ray to help out with a variety of projects. He enjoyed long motorcycle trips on his Honda Gold Wing across the United States with his late wife, Jane. They visited all 48 states including two trips to California.

Ray was a kind, friendly man who was always smiling, loved by everyone who knew him and was always willing to help others. He was a hard worker who was a 'doer' not a 'talker'.

Ray is survived by his two daughters, Linda J. Chiu & husband, Richard of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA, and Lois J. Fite & husband, Jamey of Grand Marais, MI; his three granddaughters, Dawn Baggs & husband, Bryan, Denise Farkas & husband, Greg, and Leeann Hessler & husband, Ezekiel; his seven great-grandchildren – Lily, Sierra, Maya, Gavin, Nicole, Cecilia and Maria Lee; and his two sisters, Elaine Ervin of Lansdale, PA and Mary Haberle of Souderton, PA.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jane, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Johnson; his grandson, Robert Meier; his five brothers, John, Richard, Robert, Ernest and Donald Johnson; and his sister, Regina Shellenberger.

A memorial service will be held at a future date and time.

A private burial will take place at Hilltown Union Cemetery.
