Richard Harold Jenkins , 86, of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Royersford, Schwenksville, and Creamery, went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Keffer) Jenkins, with whom he shared 64 devoted years of marriage. Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Raymond H. Jenkins and the late Nadine C. (Haines) Jenkins.
Richard was a 1957 graduate of Norristown High School. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1963 as an Aviation Structural Mechanic aboard the USS Forrestal. During his service, he was also an accomplished boxer and was deployed during both the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Following his military service, Richard built a long and dedicated career in the medical tubing industry. He began at Handy & Harman Tube Company in Norristown and later worked for Uniform Tube, which became Viant Medical, where he remained for over 30 years until his retirement in 2002. Even in retirement, he continued contributing part-time as a lead mechanic.
Richard was a proud member of VFW Post 7155 in Trappe. He lived a full and active life, enjoying golf, fishing, bowling, and listening to country music. He was a devoted fan of the Phillies and Eagles, coached Little League baseball, and participated in an Adult/Youth bowling league with his grandchildren. As a young man, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Known for his strong work ethic, protective nature, and great sense of humor, Richard was a devoted family man who cherished time with his grandchildren. He was a gifted storyteller who loved sharing memories of his travels with the Boy Scouts and his experiences in the Navy.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his three children: Cindy S. Alderfer and her husband, Joel, of Harleysville, PA; Richard Keith Jenkins and his wife, Therese Jacqueline, of Telford, PA; and Jennifer M. Boyle and her husband, Tom, of Cape Coral, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Garret A. Alderfer and his wife, Sarah, of Pennsburg, PA; Peter E. Alderfer and his wife, Brianna, of Souderton, PA; Jackline P. TenEyck and her husband, Zach, of Lake Worth, FL; and Daniel J. Alderfer and his partner, Trevor Hillman, of Kutztown, PA; as well as four great-grandchildren: Nova, Ember, Theodore, and Lilly. He is further survived by his two sisters: Eleanore Rozinski and her husband, Anthony "Gene," of Oaks, PA; and Evelyn Grantham of Newport News, VA.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by five siblings: Blanche Averell, Edna Chrin, Edward Jenkins, John Jenkins, and Rachel Davis.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, with interment at Limerick Garden of Memories.
