Dr. Richard "Duke" Kinney , lovingly known as Dukeroo, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025 while listening to Led Zeppelin, surrounded by love. He was born on January 10, 1954 in Somerville, New Jersey, to the late Elizabeth "Nonnie" (Czado) Kinney and the late Thomas Quincy Kinney.

Duke grew up as a man of faith in a lively family with five sisters and one brother in Finderne, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, Thomas "Tommy" Kinney, mother, and his sisters Barbara Marion, Joyce Ford, and Katherine Boegershausen. He is survived by two sisters, Rosemary Kinney and Nancy Gamblin, and her husband Brad Gamblin.

A man of both intellect and heart, Duke graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School East, then studied mechanical engineering at Lehigh University before pursuing medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, conducting groundbreaking medical research at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health, working on projects that played a pivotal role in the development of deep hypothermic circulatory arrest. He and his growing family then moved to the Philadelphia area where he became an anesthesiologist and settled in Media, Pennsylvania. He was known by his coworkers and patients for his compassionate bedside manner and kindness to everyone.

Duke was a man of many passions. He loved Indy car racing, fishing, traveling, music, and Italian food. He had a sharp sense of humor, a gift for practical jokes, and an ability to make friends wherever he went. He also held a special fondness for many foxes named "Big Red," a reminder of his warmth and quirky charm. Above all, Duke was a devoted family man who always put his loved ones first.

He is survived by his three children, Suzy Curtis married to James Curtis, Jim Clark Kinney married to Angela Kinney, and Joanna Nelson married to Kyle Nelson. He was the proud "Pop Pop" of eight grandchildren: Bennett, Brody, Allie, Mallory, Madeline, Bailey, Robert, and Lucy, all of whom adored him deeply.

Duke's life was one of brilliance, laughter, love, and generosity. His legacy will live on through the countless people he touched and the family he cherished most.
