Richard Lee Urner, 79, of Quakertown, PA formerly of Tylersport, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Gacedale Nursing Home, Nazareth, PA.
He was the loving husband of the late Janice Marie (McIntosh) Urner for 45 years. Richard was born in Pottstown, PA to the late George Lester Urner and the late Mary Olive (Bush) Urner.
A graduate of Owen J. Roberts H.S., Pottstown, PA. He honorably served with the US Air Force from 59 to 1960. He was self-employed as a software programmer for local townships.
He was a member of Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church and a former treasurer and board member at the Church of the Nazarene, Perkasie, PA.
He is survived by his three daughters, Michele L. Gibson & husband Rev. Charles of Post, TX, Terry L. Maroff & husband Steven of Port Leyden, NY, Stephanie M. Bryant & husband Christopher of Quakertown, PA his two sons, James L. Urner of Reading, PA and Christopher L. Urner of Manchester, NH; his seven grandchildren, (Paul, Tanya, Kayla, Brianna, Ashleigh, Jared, and Olivia) and his five great-Grandchildren, (Nehemiah, Philemon, Samuel, William, Noah): his sister, Judy Stewart & husband Paul of Dunbar, WV; his brother, Theodore Urner & wife Pamela of Spring City, PA.
Richard was a family man who enjoyed a good joke and filled a room with laughter. Although he was soft-spoken his actions showed he cared. When one of his children or grandchildren needed help, he was there. His love of country brought him into the service and reflected in his great appreciation of American history. Richard had an affection for animals, especially his canine companions. Whenever an animal was in need, he provided. He has also been a lifelong Eagles fan, always thinking the next season could be the one!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Marie Urner and his grandson Josh Gibson.
A Private Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will take place at Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery.
