Robert "Bob" Louis Johnston , 88, of Harleysville, PA; formerly of Buckingham, PA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Peter Becker Community.

Bob was the loving husband of Amelia (Savich) Johnston for 65 years. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Louis Johnston and the late Rita (Linters) Johnston.

Bob graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, PA, class of 1955. He then went on to Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree with the class of 1959.

Once out of school, Bob worked as a sales manager for the former Fuller Brush Company in Buckingham, PA and discovered his love of sales. As Bob's passion for serving people grew, a career in the insurance industry became his focus.  Starting out with the Haberen Agency in Doylestown, PA. where Bob quickly found his true calling.  Soon after, Bob set out on his own to open his independent agency known as Johnston Insurance Group, in Plumsteadville, PA.  He helped both individuals as well as business leaders with all of their insurance needs for over 25 years.  He truly loved working with his clients, and always served with compassion and integrity.  He was later able to sell his business to the Campbell Agency of Doylestown, where Bob stayed on until retiring in 2021.

Bob was a member of Living Hope Community Church in Perkasie, PA. He was a longtime active member of the Christian Business Men's Committee where he was a charter member of the Doylestown group. He was also a member of the Doylestown Kiwanis Club and LeTip of Doylestown.  Community work was exceptionally important to Bob.  He was a wonderful example of a humble servant leader to all he interacted with.

Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren where he enjoyed telling his many pop-pop jokes. He was an avid camper and enjoyed spending as much time outdoors as he could.  He and Amy took countless road trips all up and down the East coast with the family, looking for adventure at every turn.  Those were the memories he cherished most, and spoke fondly of those times together. He also enjoyed tennis, gardening, and golfing in his free time.  While he claimed he was "blind in one eye, and couldn't see out of the other", he would never let that slow him down on the golf course when he was able.  He loved all forms of music, and was blessed with a wonderful singing voice that he exercised as often as he could.

He was very interested in the work of Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as Cru), and understood the importance of spreading God's word to the best of his ability.

Finally, Bob was a hardworking, honest, caring, responsible, reliable, loving man who had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.  Nothing made him laugh more than his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Philip M. Johnston & wife, Sue of Menlo Park, CA, Andrew M. Johnston & wife, Christine of Doylestown, PA; his two daughters, Melinda A. DeVries & husband, Gregory of Ada, MI, Jennifer L. Texer & companion, John Harper of Spring Lake, MI; and his six grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Johnston, Brayden and Nate Texer and Luke and Madeline Johnston.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, James B. Johnston and his sister, Jane Sye.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
