Obituary

Robert "Bob" S. Landis , 64, of Harleysville, Pennsylvania; formerly of Telford, PA went home to be with the Lord in peace early on Monday morning, June 29, 2020 at Grand View Hospital.

He was the loving husband and best friend of Marianne (Daley) Landis for 43 years. Bob was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania to Linford D. Landis and Rhoda B. (Souder) Landis.

He graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1974. Fondly known as "Farmer Bob," he will be remembered for his passion for farming and stewardship of his land. Bob and Marianne are the founders of Sunrise Sunflower Farms in Harleysville, which is a bicentennial farm that has been in the Landis family name since 1734. Anyone who knows him is keenly aware that he and Marianne were inseparable, tirelessly working the fields together to grow sunflowers, sweet corn, and a variety of other produce to contribute to their community.

In addition to farming, Bob worked as a truck driver for the former MoPac in Souderton and for P.K. Moyer & Son in Telford. Currently, he worked for Moyer & Son Home Services for 43 years, where you would find him delivering fuel during the winter months.

Bob was a longtime member and former director of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and also a former leader in the Montgomery County 4-H Livestock Swine Club. He was also a lifetime member of Salford Mennonite Church where he served as a Senior M.Y.F. leader with his wife, the grower for the church's garden, and on various other ministries.

Bob loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to Saturday breakfast with his fellow farmers for more than 20 years.

Bob was a hardworking, joyful, caring man who had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help others.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jayne Longacre & husband, Quincy of Quakertown, PA and their three children – Miles, Gracie, and Penelope; his two sisters, Anita Kapusta & Lori Danzenbaker; and his brother, Mark Landis.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance for the church service and celebrating Bob's life at the Sunrise Sunflower Farm will be by family invitation only. Live-streaming of a portion of the celebration will be made available on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm through the Salford Mennonite Church website at www.salfordmc.org ; check there for details in the days ahead.
