Robert "Bob" R. Ruth , 92, of Harleysville, PA; formerly of Lafayette Hill, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Bob was the loving husband of Dorothy S. (Sweeney) Ruth for 38 years. He was born in Fricks, PA to the late Harvey M. Ruth and the late Evelyn (Rosenberger) Ruth.
Bob graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1950. He then graduated from Lansdale School of Business.
Bob served as an accountant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Throughout his lifetime, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant for the former Arthur Andersen LLP in Philadelphia, PA, for the former A&B Meats in Allentown, PA, and for the former C. D. Moyer in Blooming Glen, PA where he also served as president. He retired from Ernst & Young in Philadelphia, PA, and in retirement, he chose to work for Holcomb Associates, Inc. in Exton, PA.
Bob was a longtime member of Calvary Church of Souderton where he served as a former treasurer. He was also an active member of the Roxborough Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of the Peter Becker Community Veteran's Club and The Pennsylvania Institute of CPA's. Bob volunteered at The Peter Becker Community as a visitation volunteer.
Bob loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved bowling and was a huge sports fan. Bob enjoyed watching the Phillies and EAGLES. He was an avid reader and a classic car enthusiast. His church and his faith were very important to him and he also enjoyed listening to hymns.
Bob was a reserved, wise, kind, patient man who was exceptional with numbers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Brian G. Ruth of Elkton, MD, Kevin B. Ruth of Akron, PA; his son-in-law, Daryl Kershner of Fleetwood, PA; his two step-daughters, Margaret Hunsicker & husband, Steven Fleischer of Norristown, PA, Mary Kay Posselli & husband, James of Pocono Pines, PA; his step-son, James F. Stranix & wife, Judith Prescott of Schwenksville, PA; his granddaughter, Nicole L. Ruth of Ephrata, PA; his three grandsons, Timothy R. Kershner & wife, Sarah of Oley, PA, Brandon J. Ruth of Akron, PA, Jonathan Kershner & wife, Lily of Red Hill, PA; his three step-grandsons, Sean Hunsicker & wife, Lauren of Lansdale, PA, James Posselli of Bryn Mawr, PA, Andrew Posselli & fiancé, Tina Pas of Pocono Pines, PA; his step-granddaughter, Jennifer Stranix of Toughkenamon, PA; his five great-grandchildren; his four step-great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Marlene Smith of Zieglerville, PA and Susan Swavely & husband, Willard of Pennsburg, PA.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his former wife, Evelyn G. Ruth; his daughter, Sharon L. Kershner; his two daughters-in-law, Robin and Melissa E. Ruth; and his two step-sons, Stephen J. & Paul L. Stranix; and his brother-in-law, Rev. Lawrence Smith.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Peter Becker Community Chapel, 800 Maple Ave, Harleysville, PA 19438, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00 pm.
A private burial will take place at Calvary Church Cemetery.
