Robert Hann Schong , 94, of Telford, Pennsylvania, formerly of Lansdale, PA, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Lutheran Community at Telford.

Bob was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to the late Harry B. Schong and the late Anna (Hann) Schong.

He graduated from Lansdale High School, Class of 1948. Bob furthered his education at the Stonier Graduate School of Banking held at Rutgers University. He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Montgomery County Bankers Association and was an instructor for the American Institute of Banking. His working career extended for more than forty years in banking, mostly with Union National Bank and Trust Company of Souderton (now Univest).

In 1948 he enlisted in the Army National Guard as part of the 111th Infantry, training at the Doylestown Armory and the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation. Serving for ten years, Bob attained the rank of Master Sergeant.

He worshiped at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Hosensack.

Bob was never a Boy Scout, but as an adult he supported the program, serving in various administrative positions, including seven years as Chairman of the General Nash District.

As a young boy during World War II, he read the daily news about the war and maintained a lifetime interest in studying its history. Bob traveled to Midway Island (site of the Battle of Midway) to assist with historical preservation efforts there. He loved sharing his war stories with the many friends he made throughout his lifetime.

He enjoyed his collections of manger scenes and mid-century ceramic Christmas trees. He dispersed his collection of ceramic Christmas trees to the Lutheran Community at Telford.

Bob was a friend to everyone. He enjoyed hiking and bicycling. His most memorable bicycle trip was in the island country of Sri Lanka. He hiked in Austria and England and also enjoyed walking through the Upper Perkiomen Valley to a favorite spot along the Hosensack Creek.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Community Chapel, 235 N. Washington St., Telford, Pennsylvania 18969.

Burial will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Indian Valley Public Library, 100 East Church Avenue, Telford, PA 18969.
