Obituary

Robert “Bob” Anthony Shoener, 76, of Silverdale, Pennsylvania, formerly of Doylestown and Willow Grove, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, September 14, 2026.

He was the loving husband of the late Mary Lou “Candy” (Rielli) Shoener, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Bob was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late William Anthony Shoener and the late Natalie (Ziernicki) Shoener.

Bob was a graduate of Upper Moreland High School in Willow Grove, Class of 1968. He dedicated 40 years of his working life to Bell Telephone, later known as Verizon, as a lineman in Line Lexington, Pennsylvania, retiring in 2008. He was also a member of the American Poolplayers Association.

Bob was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as horseshoes and billiards. He loved crossword puzzles, working with his hands, and taking on handyman projects and fixing things around the house. A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, he especially cherished spending time with his family at cookouts and picnics.

Those who knew Bob will remember him for his independent spirit, easygoing nature, and fun-loving personality. He was a natural jokester with a ready supply of “dad jokes” and a wonderful sense of humor. Above all, Bob was caring, devoted to his family, and happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.

He will be deeply missed by his five children: Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Faust and her husband, Jeremia, of Perkasie, PA; Theresa “Terry” Ann Scholler and her husband, Ronald, of Quakertown, PA; Robert “Rob” Edward Shoener and his wife, Rachel, of Telford, PA; Michael Anthony Shoener and his wife, Krista, of Pennsburg, PA; and Christine “Chrissy” Michelle Taylor and her husband, Brendan, of Sellersville, PA.

He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren: Evan Hooper and his wife, Tiffany; Kolette Tolkacz and her husband, Joe; Michaela Hooper; Aaron Hooper; Kaitlynn Berlot and her husband, Aaron; Kayla Gaffney and her husband, Dylan; Austin Shoener; Savannah Shoener; Lillian Shoener; Zachary Valentine and his companion, Taryn Bailey; Mya Shoener; and Riley Taylor; as well as his five great-grandchildren: Charlotte Hooper, Amelia Hooper, Cameron Gaffney, Grace Berlot, and Lainey Valentine. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Shoener and his wife, Eva, of Charlotte, NC.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, “Candy,” Bob was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin James Hooper.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. The service will also be Livestreamed.
