Obituary

Ronald Bruce Hughes , 85, of Souderton, PA entered heaven to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

He was the loving husband of Marilee Jane (Stover) Hughes for 67 years. Ron was born in Lansdale, PA to the late Paul R. and Eleanor (Seitz) Hughes, the second of their four sons.

Ron was employed as a Driver-Salesman for Coca Cola, North Wales, PA for 40+ years.

Ron enjoyed baseball, golf, and farming.  In his teens and twenties, he excelled in baseball playing Legion ball and for several teams in the Perkiomen Twilight league.  He enjoyed playing golf and an annual Shadowbrook golf vacation with family and friends.  Throughout his life, he was involved with farming.  Many knew of and stopped by his farm/produce stand at 232 Washington Avenue.  All may not have known his name, but everyone was sure to receive good produce and a smile.

Ron was a born again Christian and a life-long member of Immanuel Leidy's Church, Souderton, PA.  He was passionate about the Lord and served in various roles at the church.  He gladly volunteered his time and talents for his church family and friends.

He was devoted to his family and set an example of love, respect, kindness and helping others.  He had a strong work ethic and contagious smile.

His greatest joy was love for his family.  In addition to his wife Marilee, he is survived by:  three sons, R. Scott Hughes and wife Sue of Collegeville, PA, David B. Hughes and wife Florence of Doylestown, PA and Michael C. Hughes and wife Deborah of Schwenksville, PA; and his daughter, Allison Walbrandt and husband David of Skippack, PA.  He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren:  Christopher, Stephen, Samuel, Emmett, Abram, Millicent, Kendra, Courtney, Jacob, Casey, Carly, Lindsay, Alexander, Peter, Hollie and Megan; and by eighteen great grandchildren - Addison, Brielle, Caleigh, Ashley, Andrew, Owen, Lily, Parker, Camden, Daytona, Phoenix, Nolan, Sawyer, Paxton, Finley, Dylan, Hadley and Delaney; as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Betty Hughes of Souderton, PA, and his sister-in-law, Marlene Hughes (wife of Paul K.) of Souderton, PA.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sophie Hughes, and two brothers, Paul K. Hughes and James L. Hughes, and Jim's wife Peggy.

A Private Service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will take place at Immanuel Leidy's Church Cemetery.
