Ruth E. (Shapcott) Adlam , 90, of Souderton, PA; formerly of North Wales, PA & Glenside, PA went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Peter Becker Community.

She was the loving wife of the late James A. Adlam, Sr. for 58 years. Ruth was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late William E. Shapcott and the late Elizabeth (Miller) Shapcott.

She graduated from Girls High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1948. Ruth worked as a secretary for the former INA Insurance Company in Philadelphia, PA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth then worked as a cashier for the former Chernoff's Pharmacy in Ardsley, PA.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Hatfield where she served on the altar guild, was a member of the vestry, and participated on the executive board.

Ruth loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She also loved photography.

Ruth was a quiet, reserved, loving, patient woman who was always willing to lend a listening ear.

She is survived by her four children, James A. Adlam, Jr. & wife, Janet of Ambler, PA, Ruth E. Watkins & husband, Scott of Schwenksville, PA, George H. Adlam & wife, Susan of Ambler, PA, Joy Bailey & husband, John of Ladera Ranch, CA; her son-in-law, James P. Leary of Souderton, PA; her 25 grandchildren and her 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Elizabeth Leary; her sister, Mae Haag; and her two brothers, William E. Shapcott, Jr. & George Shapcott.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be private.

Burial will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
