Ruth Edna (Golisch) Bugge , 84, of Lansdale, PA; formerly of Seal Beach, CA & Fairfax, VA passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Dock Terrace.

She was the loving wife of Robert "Bob" R. Bugge for 55 years. Ruth was born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Reverend Doctor Colonel Clarence Otto Frank Golisch and the late Catherine Ada (Gray) Golisch.

Being a member of a Pastor's and Army Officer's family meant a life of travel and adventure. Her early years were spent in Decatur, IL, including 38 months while her father was deployed to the European Theater during World War II. Upon his return the family moved to Fort McClellan, Alabama. The family then moved to L'Anse and then to Reese, Michigan, where she started school in a one-room schoolhouse. When she was 12 years old, her family moved to Watertown, Wisconsin. She graduated Northwestern Lutheran High School in 1955, and matriculated to Concordia Teachers College, River Forest (now Concordia University, Chicago), where she was a member of the Touring Choir. Prior to graduation, she accepted a teaching position at a Lutheran School in Duluth, Minnesota. After two years of teaching, she graduated from Concordia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. In 1962, she accepted a teaching position at St. Paul's Lutheran Church School in Annapolis, Maryland, where she was Principal of the school, directed two choirs and served as a substitute organist.

While in Annapolis, she met a dashing Army officer in the church choir. Ruth married First Lieutenant Robert Bugge in March of 1966. She taught for one year at St. Paul's Lutheran School near Baltimore, Maryland, while Bob was stationed in Korea. Upon his return, they moved to Fort Benning, Georgia, where she gave birth to Russell Eric, while fulfilling responsibilities of an Army Officer's wife. After one year in Georgia, the family moved to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, for Bob to attend an Army School. While Bob was serving in Viet Nam, Ruth and Russell lived in Annapolis, Maryland. Upon his return, the family moved to Stuttgart, Germany in 1971, where Randall Owen was born. After three and a half years in Germany, the family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where they bought their first house and she became a member of Woman's Aglow Fellowship. In 1977, it was back to Germany, this time in Nürnberg. In 1980, the family returned to the States to live in Fairfax, Virginia. In 1982, the family moved to Seal Beach, California, while Bob worked for Hughes Aircraft Company. She was a member of a select choral group in Long Beach, California. In 1986, the family moved to Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

After every move, as soon as she got the boys settled in schools and the quarters organized, she would load the boys in her car and go exploring. She would track down old friends, see the historical sites and find great places to shop and eat. After eleven moves in 20 years of marriage, she managed to stay in Lansdale, Pennsylvania for more than 35 years.

While in California and Pennsylvania, she worked as an Assistant Librarian, where she was instrumental in computerizing their records and operations. She established her own commercial embroidery business, Ruth's Originals, in her Lansdale home, providing custom monogramming for schools and businesses. She also sewed many of the flags used by the band at North Penn High School and uniforms for the Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps. She was an enthusiastic Drum Corps and Band Mom for both sons and Bob. She taught in the North Penn School District for 12 years as a mathematics assistant. Throughout her 84 years, Ruth sought adventure in meeting new people and new places to visit. Wherever she was living, she participated in church and educational support activities.

Ruth was an active member of Immanuel Leidy's Church where she served in various ministries including a member of the Immanuel Leidy's Bell Choir and former director of the Immanuel Leidy's Hand Chime Choir

She enjoyed music, reading, baking, gardening, sewing, growing flowers, collecting ladybug décor, and traveling with her husband to the upper Midwest to visit family.

Ruth was a caring, compassionate, generous lady who loved spoiling her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by her two sons, Russell Eric Bugge & wife, Diane of Lansdale, PA, Randall Owen Bugge & wife, Diane "Di" of East Brunswick, NJ; her two grandsons, James Russell Bugge of East Brunswick, NJ, Caleb Eoin Bugge of East Brunswick, NJ; her sister, Catherine Mae Sternitzky of Marshfield, WI; her two brothers, David Richard Golisch of Fulda, MN, James Clarence Golisch & wife, Carol of Westfield, WI; and her sister-in-law, Joan Golisch of Mt. Prospect, IL.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, John Edward Golisch and her sister, Mary Ann Elizabeth Hughes.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Immanuel Leidy's Church, 273 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.

A future inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery where her parents are currently at rest.
