Obituary

Ruth (Long) Kooker , 79, of Perkasie, PA; formerly of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of Glen W. Kooker for 61 years. Ruth was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Raymond B. Long and the late Edna (Stoudt) Long.

She graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1963.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She started her career as a beautician at the former Mae Bergey's Beauty Shop in Souderton. Upon closing, Ruth opened her own beauty shop in Perkasie, PA in which she served her clients for over 35 years.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Telford, PA where she formerly served in various positions and volunteered her time. Ruth also formerly volunteered with Grand View Hospital.

She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Ruth loved her weekly trips to Ocean City, NJ with the family. For over 40 years, she famously hosted many parties including family Christmas dinners and 4th of July picnics. Ruth enjoyed gardening, walking, riding bike at the beach, and traveling nationally and internationally. She was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with her animals and had a passion for butterflies.

Ruth was a quiet, reserved, loving, caring, compassionate, patient woman who never complained.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Tiffany S. Russo of Perkasie, PA, Jennifer H. Gheorghiu & husband, Victor of Telford, PA; her four grandchildren, Brianna N. Russo & fiancé, Anthony Capirose of Perkasie, PA, Matthew G. Russo of Perkasie, PA, Rosalie D. Gheorghiu of Telford, PA, Valerie G. Gheorghiu of Telford, PA; her sister, Verna Sickel of Red Hill, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Laura Yerk.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Burial will take place at Little Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
