E. Ruth Smith , 93, of Shipshewana, IN, formerly of Hatfield, PA, died at 7:05 pm, on Thursday, March 16 at her residence. Ruth lived in Pennsylvania for 80 years prior to moving to Indiana in 2010 to be near her family.

She was born on January 9, 1930, in Montgomery County, PA, to Harry S. and Rebecca (Clemmer) Bishop. On June 2, 1973, she married John Matthew Smith; he died November 12, 1990. Surviving are sister, Miriam (David) Yoder of Shipshewana, IN; many nieces and nephews, including her caregivers, Joanna and Deborah Yoder of Shipshewana, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Richard Bishop, Lester Bishop, and Daniel Bishop.

Ruth was a member of Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church in Silverdale, PA. She had worked as a seamstress for most of her life; she also worked for a pharmaceutical company.

She enjoyed spending time in her flowerbeds and with her cats as well as shopping and spending time with her family.

A viewing will be from 1:30 - 3:00 pm, followed by a 3:00 pm funeral service on Sunday, March 26 at Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church, 165 West Main Street, Silverdale, PA. Services will be conducted by Pastor Matthew Hahn.

Burial will be in Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery, Silverdale, PA.
