Obituary

Ruth S. Wiren , 86, of Perkasie, formerly of Philadelphia, PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, PA.

Ruth was the loving wife of the late Raymond Michael Wiren, Jr. for 55 years. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Elsie Elizabeth (Hartley) Smart.

Ruth graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia, PA, class of 1956. She was employed as an office worker for the former Bell Telephone in Philadelphia, PA. During the 1980's, Ruth was employed as a day care worker for Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville, PA. She then worked as a shirt presser for the former Clemens Cleaners in Chalfont, PA.

Ruth was an honorary charter member of Faith Baptist Church (now known as Faith Church of Sellersville) where she served as a former Adult and Children's Sunday school teacher and choir member.

Ruth was an avid reader and Philadelphia sports fan. She enjoyed flower & vegetable gardening, bird watching, board games, and puzzles.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a selfless, caring, witty, intelligent woman who loved studying the Bible and was known for her classic eye rolls.

Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Becky Safford and husband, John of Des Moines, IA, Ramona Hoffman of Shohola, PA, Rachel Menin and husband, Scott of Warminster, PA; her son, R. Michael Wiren III and wife, Amber of Perkasie, PA; her fifteen grandchildren – Catherine Hamilton, Erin (Landis) Mendoza, Wesley Safford, Brandon Safford, Travis Hoffman, Blakely Hoffman, Hudson Wiren, Jarod Safford, Carter Wiren, Reed Wiren, Eleanor Wiren, Sylvia Wiren, Martin Wiren, Marigold Wiren, & Floyd Wiren; and seven great-grandchildren – Lucy Wiren, Isaiah Wiren, Bjorn Wiren, Leah Mendoza, Vienna Wiren, Ellie Hoffman, & Jojo Safford.

In addition to her husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Landis; her two sons-in-law, Laverne Landis and Stephen Hoffman; her brother, James Smart; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Torode-Smart.

A visitation will be held on May 25, 2024 at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 East Broad Street, Souderton, PA 18964 from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 pm.
