Sandra Eileen (Lewis) Hespell, 89, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, formerly of Hatfield, entered into rest peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Luke’s Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.

She was the beloved wife of the late James Hespell, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. Sandra was born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, to the late Carl Emerson Lewis and the late Edith Mae (Quade) Lewis.

Sandra was a graduate of Hatfield High School, Class of 1954. Throughout her life, she held a variety of positions that reflected her creativity, warmth, and dedication to others. She began her career as an operator for the former Bell Telephone in Lansdale and later worked as a waitress at the former Century House Restaurant in Hatfield. She was employed for 20 years as a manager and buyer for the former Levine’s Fabrics in Colmar. Her love of sewing and fashion led her to work as a seamstress and fitter at the former Anne Bailey’s Bridal Shop in Fountainville. She was also the proud owner and operator of a home-based business, Frocks & Fancies.

Sandra was a lifelong member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ in Hatfield, where she sang in the church choir as a teenager. She was also a lifetime member of the Yesteryear Doll Club, United Federation of Doll Clubs, Region 13, where she previously served as president and treasurer over the years. She was a long-time member of the Blue Comet Motorcycle Club of Skippack, participating in club activities such as Lansdale Bike Night.

Sandra had many interests and passions. She adored cats, treasured her grandchildren, and especially enjoyed spending time with them. She was warm and kind and accepting. She was supportive of their interests and their self-expression. A fun loving and active Grandmom, she enjoyed playing games, teaching and doing crafts with them, and other creative activities.

She loved collecting antique dolls, attending doll conventions and events with her friends, traveling with her husband, sewing, crafting, and reading. Above all, Sandra will be remembered as a loving, kind, and friendly woman who genuinely cared about other people. She had a good sense of humor, was a good friend to others, and was kind and welcoming to all.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Rodrigo and her husband, Richard, of Chalfont, Pennsylvania; her son, Jerrold Hespell of Sellersville, Pennsylvania; her four grandchildren – Ben, Rae, Marissa, and Alana; and her brother, David Lewis and his wife, Linda, of Woodbridge, Virginia.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, James, Sandra was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Hespell; her grandson, Kevin Hespell; and her sisters, Carol Jenson and Linda Hart.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
