Shirley F. (Godshall) Brown , 89, of Souderton, Pennsylvania, entered into rest on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Souderton Mennonite Homes.
She was the beloved wife of the late Merrill P. Brown, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Shirley was born in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, to the late Alfred B. Godshall and Dora S. (Algard) Godshall.
Shirley was a graduate of Hatfield High School, Class of 1954.
She worked for more than 20 years as a clerk at Frederick's Flowers in Souderton. Following her time there, she served as Director of Volunteers at Indian Creek Foundation in Souderton, where she continued her lifelong passion for helping others.
A devoted member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Shirley generously gave her time through many volunteer roles. She was also a dedicated member and assistant secretary of the Needlework Guild for 30 years. Shirley lovingly crocheted baby hats for newborns at Grand View Hospital and Doylestown Hospital. At Souderton Mennonite Homes, she volunteered by visiting residents and making thoughtful birthday and holiday gifts. She also delivered meals through Meals on Wheels for 15 years.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, baking, and traveling both across the United States and internationally. Above all, she found great joy in volunteering and serving her community.
She will be remembered as a caring, outgoing, friendly, and sociable woman whose kindness touched many lives.
Shirley is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Flora Dolly Sodomin and Thelma D. Felton Cook, and her brother, Alfred M. Godshall.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, Pennsylvania.
Inurnment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Branches Foundation, Souderton Mennonite Agape Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
