Obituary

Our precious and wonderful mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed, Trudell "Trudy" Blank Groff , 97, of Souderton, PA, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Abington-Lansdale Hospital, Lansdale, PA.

She was the loving wife of the late Stanley Arden Groff, who passed on May 3, 2011.  They were married almost 68 years.  They married in Aniston, Alabama, where Stanley was stationed when in the Army.  Trudell "Trudy" was born in 1924, to the late Raymond Stover Blank, who passed 8/1989 and Elda Barnes Bissey Blank, who passed 10/1960.

She graduated from Souderton High School in 1942.

Trudell "Trudy" was employed by many different places over the years.  She helped in her father's sporting goods and toy store; she twisted pretzels; she tied knots on clotheslines; she worked for Hunter Spring; in the cafeteria at E. B. Laudenslager; Brooks Instruments; in the office at Lansdale Transfer; her last job, which she eventually retired from, was as a secretary at Richmond Ring in Hatfield.

Trudell "Trudy" had been a member of Amaranth for many years.  She had been a long time member of Zion Mennonite, where in her younger years, she used to knit bandages for a leper colony.  She joined the Sr. Center in Souderton, and enjoyed various activities with them.  She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, often taking her two PA grandchildren to their trailer in Mansfield for vacations in the summertime and traveling to San Jose, CA, first by bus, then by train, then plane and finally car, to visit her daughter and family.  She loved traveling, going on many Hagey's Bus trips to various locations, going to Hawaii with her sister, Elda and her husband,Stan-and once she retired, she enjoyed being a "snow bird" and traveling to Florida for several years.  She loved going to exercise at the Sr. Center and walking their dog, Fritz, twice a day.  She enjoyed volunteering at Care and Share with her friend, Sis Godshall.  She loved going various places with her two sisters, Sister (Elda) and Rita.  She loved doing crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed dancing and a large variety of different genres of music.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Brewer (Warren Jr.) of Prescott Valley, AZ; her 4 grandchildren-Barry A. Groff Jr. and Sundae Nentwig (Kevin) both of Hatfield; Matthew (Matt) Brewer of Prescott, AZ and Christopher (Chris) Brewer of Prescott Valley, AZ; her 5 great grandchildren-Joshua, Rachel and Benjamin (Ben) Groff and Zakkary (Zakk) and Trevor Nentwig; and her 1 great great granddaughter, Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her parents-Elda in 1960 and Raymond in 1989; her infant daughter, Beverly, in 1953; her sister, Rita Bentzley, in 1986; her sister, Elda (Sister, Ellie) Mayew, in 2006; her brother-in-law, George Bentzley, in 2009; her husband, Stanley (Stan) Arden (Artie), in 2011; her son, Barry A. Groff Sr., in 2013; and her daughter-in-law, Rita Joann (Crouse) Groff, in 2019.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021where friends may greet the family from 2:00pm – 2:30pm . at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 E. Broad Street, Souderton, PA 18964. Funeral services will begin at 2:30pm .

Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Souderton, PA.
