Verna B. (Derstine) Fretz , 97, of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

She was the loving wife of the late Asher B. Fretz for 64 years. Verna was born in Franconia, PA to the late Rowland D. Derstine and Sallie (Bergey) Derstine.

Verna was employed as a Seamstress for Godshall's Shirt Factory for several years.

She was a member of the 4-H Quilting Club, 1015 Bridge Road, Collegeville, PA, and enjoyed quilting with the Lansdale Mennonite Church sewing circle. Verna also volunteered for the Lansdale Mennonite Vacation Summer Bible School.

She was an avid quilter, enjoyed canning, flower & vegetable gardening, sewing, embroidering, and taking bus trips with Hagey's Bus Company with her late husband, Asher. Verna received several ribbons for her skill as a quilter.

She is survived by her daughter Sheila Tittle of Lansdale, PA,  her two sons, Lonnie D. Fretz of Troy, PA and Kerry L. Fretz of Phoenixville, PA; her two grandchildren, Jennifer and Kent, and her two great-grandchildren, Asher and Shawna.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Stayton Derstine and her sister, Beatrice Tyson.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Burial will take place at Haycock Mennonite Cemetery.
