Obituary

Wadieh Gendy , 95, of Darby, PA formerly of Lansdowne, PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 at Little Flower Manor, Darby, PA.

He was the loving husband of Odette Medawar for 61 years. Wadieh was born in Sohag, Egypt to the late Abd El Massieh Gendy and the late Balsam Gendy.

After graduating from High School in Egypt, he entered the Navy where he served throughout his working lifetime. Wadieh served in the Egyptian Navy for 20+ years reaching the level of Captain on a Navy ship. In 1986 he came to the United States by way of Philadelphia.

He was a member of St. George Coptic Orthodox Church of Greater Philadelphia.

Wadieh enjoyed staying fit by working out, drinking tea and watching the news. He was a hardworking, honest man who was very straightforward.

In addition to his wife, Odette Medawar, he is survived by: his three sons, Hany Gendy & his wife Brigitta of Port St. Lucie, FL, Amgad Gendy & his wife Lisa of Clifton Heights, PA, and Ramy Gendy & his wife Nancy of Gilbertsville, PA, his daughter, Gihan Gendy & her husband Magdy of Springfield, PA; his two grandsons, Nelson Gendy of Port St. Lucie, FL and Gabriel Gendy of Gilbertsville, PA, and his granddaughter, Belle Gendy of Gilbertsville, PA; also many nieces and nephews, Nadia, Magdy, Aida, Nader, Violett and Nasser, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Halin and Shafeek and two sisters, Bahia and Zahia.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 11:30 am at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church of Greater Philadelphia, 411 DeKalb Street, Norristown, Pennsylvania 19401.

Burial will take place at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
