Walter Torres , 78, of Lansdale, PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at his residence.
Walter was the husband of Nelida (Rodriguez) Torres. He was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico to the late Eustoquio Torres and the late Matilde Santos.
Walter graduated from high school in Philadelphia, PA. During the Vietnam War, he served as a wireman in the United States Marine Corp and later in the reserves as a staff sergeant. He was then employed as a welder for the former Met-Pro in Lansdale, PA for more than 30 years.
Walter was a member of Iglesia Misión Evangélica Church in Souderton, PA.
He enjoyed fishing, welding, driving, John Wayne movies, and his sweets. Walter was a handyman who always had a project that he was working on. He also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
Walter was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a hardworking and generous man who had a great sense of humor and was a bit of a jokester. He was always willing to volunteer his time helping others and driving them to their appointments.
Walter is survived by his son, Ronnell Acosta & wife, Leyda of Allentown, PA; his three daughters, Lisa A. Torres of Punta Santiago, Edna L. Torres & companion, Leonard Bell of Forest Park, GA, Lilian I. Torres of Meriden, CT; his 11 grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his two brothers, Antonio Rodriguez of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, Benjamin Rodriquez of Hatfield, PA; and his two sisters, Claribel Rodriquez of Ambler, PA, Idalia Cruz of Bloomfield, NJ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Miriam Santiago.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Iglesia Misión Evangélica Church, 242 Railroad Avenue, Souderton, PA 18964. The funeral service will take place at 7:00 pm.
Burial will take place at Cementerio Los Pinos in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico.
