Willard "Bill" S. Derstine , 93, of Telford, PA; formerly of Doylestown, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Lutheran Community at Telford.
Willard was the loving husband of Lillie (Rush) Derstine for 71 years. He was born in Pipersville, PA to the late Isaac M. Derstine and the late Katie (Schmell) Derstine.
Willard attended the one room schoolhouse in Bedminster Twp. He later received his Graduate Equivalence Degree. He was employed as a farmer and manager for the former White Eagle Laboratories in Doylestown, PA for more than 50 years.
Willard was a member of Calvary Church of Souderton where he served as an usher, a leader for the Boys Brigade, on the mission board, and volunteered with five Katrina disaster relief teams and four mission trips to Germany, Guatemala and Mexico. He also volunteered at Haycock Camping Ministries in Kintnersville, PA for more than 30 years.
Willard enjoyed gardening, working, lawn care, traveling, reading, and hunting.
Willard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a hardworking, gentle, godly man who enjoyed telling a good story.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Donna D. Bryant of Glendale, AZ, Carol J. Hodge of Merritt Island, FL, Sandra D. Dayton of Telford, PA; his daughter-in-law, Yolanda G. Derstine of Warrenton, MO; his nine grandchildren – Maxwell, Angela, Stephen, Nathan, David, Kristen, John, Mark, & Grace; his 13 great-grandchildren – Owen, Emmett, Archer, Allison, Ian, Raymond, Kaitlyn, Lilly, Ryker, Emelia, Jaxson, Richard, & Kayden; and his three sisters, Betty Bishop of Perkasie, PA, Bernice Keller of Quakertown, PA, and Marilyn Hochman of Athens, TN.
In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by his son, Richard W. Derstine and his four siblings, Mildred Rice, Herbert Derstine, Ruth Rice, and Darwin Derstine.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at Calvary Church, 820 Souderton Road (Route 113), Souderton, PA 18964.
