Obituary

William F. "Bill" Bailey , 83, of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital – Upper Bucks Campus in Quakertown, Pennsylvania.

Bill was the beloved husband of Mary R. (Camp) Bailey, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Victor Bailey and Doris (Keely) Bailey.

A proud graduate of Lafayette High School's Class of 1962, Bill began his career with ITT before answering the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967 and was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany.  Following his active duty military service, he joined the New York Telephone Company, later Verizon, where he worked as a lineman for 34 years. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves for another 24 years as a Staff Sergeant.  During his service his unit was activated during Desert Storm.  This took him to San Antonio Texas for six months.  He retired in 2007 after a dedicated career.

Bill was a faithful member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Quakertown and was formerly an active member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, where he served as an usher, and Fellowship Coordinator along with wife Mary. His faith was a guiding strength throughout his life.

Above all else, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who treasured time with his family. He enjoyed playing softball in both church and telephone company leagues and continued playing until he was 65 years old. He was an enthusiastic New York Yankees fan who loved cooking for family and friends, gardening, listening to old records, and building his many collections. Bill was known for his generous spirit, quick sense of humor, and unforgettable practical jokes that brought smiles to those around him.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary, Bill is survived by his stepsons, Scott Chiavetta and his wife, Christina, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Keith Chiavetta and his fiancée, Rose Dubrovich, of Fernandina Beach, Florida; his daughters, Jennifer Horner and her husband, Jeff, of Barberton, Ohio, and Carolyn Mastrapasqua of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania; his son, Warren Bailey and his wife, Sherri, of Quakertown, Pennsylvania; his five grandchildren, Aleigh, Ana Courbat and husband Zach, Maria, Nick, and Ethan; his great-grandson, Asher; and another great-grandchild expected in November. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Mathews and her husband, Sam, of Broadview Heights, Ohio.
