William Garlin (Paul) Negley, of Hilltown Township, PA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, January 18, 2022.  He was 92.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mae (Lehman). They had been married for 67 years.

Born in Lewisberry, PA, on September 6, 1929, he was the son of the late Grover C. & Florence (Garlin) Negley.

He is survived by four children:  Wendell (Lois), Brenda Sims (Troy), Lowell (Deborah) & Merrill (Melinda).  Thirteen grandchildren:  Zachery (Ashlee), Rachel Farrell (Brian), Joshua, Lydia Keane (Thomas III), Emily Wingert (Riley), April, Luke (Julie), Caleb, Francis Sims (Audrey), Daniel (Katherine), Micah (Lauren), Rebekah Beck (Justin), and James.  He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren.  He is survived by one sister, Ivy Bankert.  He was predeceased by four of his sisters, Eleanor Mummert, Mary Zeiders, Dorothy Pyles, Janet Craumer, and his three brothers, Grover Jr., John and Jesse.

Due to his religious beliefs, William served in 1W service as a conscientious objector, plastering at Norristown State Hospital for two years.  During this time, he attended Graterford Brethren in Christ Church which was how he eventually met his wife, Mae.

William was a long-time member of the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church where he had served as a youth leader, organist, Sunday School teacher, deacon, church board member, and custodian.  He was a plasterer by trade, learning from and working with his father.  Later, he worked for several different plasterers.  And, lastly, he worked at Rockhill Community in housekeeping, and retired from there.

William was a talented woodworker, building various pieces of furniture for family.  He was a talented flower arranger, remodeled three homes he lived in, enjoyed decorating his home, the church, and Rockhill, and loved his small farm with various animals and large gardens.  He enjoyed reading the daily newspaper, reading Christian books, and collecting teddy bears & roosters.

William was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He will be greatly missed.

A private service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church.

Others may watch the service livestreamed via the Silverdale Church Facebook site at 1 PM.

A private burial will be held at the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church at the convenience of the family.
