Zella Maxine Kauffman , 84, of Souderton, PA; went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

Zella was born August 13, 1937 in Minot, North Dakota to the late Harold Y. Kauffman and the late Wilma E. Kropf Kauffman.

She graduated from Hesston High School, Hesston, KS in 1957 and graduated from Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, VA with a Bachelors Degree in Education.

Zella was employed as a Preschool and Kindergarten Teacher for Penn View Christian School for 22 years. She also established and taught at the Open Windows Nursery School at Spring Mount Mennonite Church. She was a member of the Christian School Teachers Association.  Zella attended both Souderton Mennonite Church and Spring Mount Mennonite Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes.

Zella had a longtime interest in and was a supporter of Christian Missions.  She and her sister, Zolla, spent time in Germany working with children with disabilities.  She looked forward to traveling to Alberta, Canada every summer to spend time with her family. Zella had a servant heart; investing in others, putting their needs first, taking the time to listen and helping in any way she could.  Reading to her nieces and nephews was a favorite activity and well remembered by them. Zella had a great appreciation for the beauty of nature.

She is survived by: Sister, Verla Fae (Melford) Haas of Bluesky, Alberta, Canada; Four Brothers, Wayne D. (Donna) Kauffman of Archibold, OH, Dwaine D. (Sherry) Kauffman of Minot, ND, Dwight A. (Trella) Kauffman of Harrisonburg, VA, Elton Lee (Esther) Kauffman of Bluesky, Alberta, Canada, Sister-in-law, Carol Kauffman of Annville, PA.

She was preceded in death by: Twin Sister, Zolla Pauline Kauffman and brother, Dennis Gehl Kauffman.

An in person Memorial Service will be held on October 26, 2021 at 3:00 PM, at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory.  The service can also be viewed at that time via livestream by clicking here . An informal Visitation will be held following the service.

Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Minot, ND.
